Lesson 1: Pythagorean Triples

Learning Objectives

After completing this lesson, students should be able to do the following.

  • Generate data regarding primitive Pythagorean triples (PPTs).
  • Identify patterns in PPT data.
  • Combine patterns that you have identified to formulate mathematical conjectures on PPTs.
  • Prove conjectures related to PPTs.
  • Draw general conclusions related to PPTs.
  • Apply the formula, that we will introduce, that generates all PPTs.
